What’s next?
Stay Connected and Continue Learning
If you did not already have a membership on the PYP Community website, your enrollment in the course provided you with a free four-month Supporter membership. This level of support gives access to continuing education content, such as our webinar series and practice videos. We will also be introducing additional mini-courses, virtual book clubs, and more in the months and years to come.
After four months, your membership will convert to the Guest level unless you choose to subscribe. The Guest level membership will give you continued access to the groups, public forums, and select continuing education content.
You can find out information about your current subscription by clicking the down-arrow next to your name on the top right of the Community website and selecting Membership > Subscriptions.
You can find a curated list of PYP’s recommended reading by clicking on Books > Recommended Reading, in the menu at the top of the page.
Apply to Become a PYP Facilitator
If you are interested in becoming a facilitator, you can start the application process by reading this page. You will find a link at the bottom of the page that will take you to the application.
A majority of PYP Facilitators have volunteer positions, but funded positions are growing. We are continuing to work alongside local Program Directors to apply for grants and work with facilities to support sustainable paid programming.
If you are applying to a region with existing programs, your application will be read and then shared with that Program Director. If you are applying to facilitate in a region where there is not yet a program, it is expected that you will work with our Executive Team to develop a program at a local facility.
Raise Funds and Awareness
Behind the scenes, our small team is continually working on projects to support incarcerated people, including:
- Raising funds for formerly incarcerated and system impacted individuals to complete yoga teacher training
- Developing a comic-book style yoga workbook to support system-impacted youth
- Providing copies of Yoga: A Path for Healing and Recovery to every incarcerated person that requests one
- Advocating for trauma-informed programming for incarcerated people and corrections; staff across the world
Financial support from foundations and individual donors helps us sustain and grow these programs that support our mission. Having completed the Foundational training, you understand how critical our mission is and have the skills and knowledge to raise awareness and generate financial support for the cause.
Direct donations can be made here: https://prisonyoga.kindful.com/.
If you are connected to donors or foundations who might be interested and able to provide a large contribution or are aware of grant opportunities, please email bill@prisonyoga.org.
We cannot thank you enough for your support of Prison Yoga Project, and your willingness to support people who are incarcerated.
