Join our “My Grandmother’s Hands” Book Club
We’re excited about our Community membership website’s first Virtual Book Club offering. We’ll be reading and discussing My Grandmother’s Hands by trauma specialist Resmaa Menakem.
One of the core principles of Transformative Justice is acknowledgment. As it exists in the US, mass-incarceration has its roots in slavery and the systems of racist oppression that followed abolition. This oppression harms both the oppressed and oppressors, and that harm lands in our bodies. To acknowledge and heal this intergenerational trauma, we begin with our internal work: embodiment, healing, and re-membering.
This book club allows participants to reflect on the impacts of body-based trauma through the lens of yoga and incarceration through a series of lessons that bring together additional resources to enhance the reading of the book and a forum and virtual meetups for engaged dialog.
The course is free for Community website members, with memberships starting at $20 per month.
If you’re already a member, you can read a description of the course here and get started today:

We’re looking forward to this new offering and to bringing you more great content like this in the future.
