Hello! I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the live lectures, every single one of them so far have been an incredible eye opener and surprise! I'm just so grateful and honored to be able to be part of this program and meet the incredible people that are part of it and are invited!! Thank you Jen, thank you PYP and thank you to all the guests so far!!
I absolutely loved this live with Dr. Bourgeois, It’s one I have been anticipating. Our little intro class to criminology was so in formative and learning new terminology like cultural humility. I look forward to when the slides are posted. Thank you so much Jen for having such and amazing and compassionate guest for us.
@jen-lindgren Hi, When trying to access Josefin’s recording access is denied due to membership level.
@vigilsarah6gmail-com Thank you for sharing this! I will update the access and will communicate once this is completed! Thank you!
@vigilsarah6gmail-com The link to Josefin's workshop has been updated. Thank you again for taking the time to share that this was not accessible!
Uau what a great great and super informative and insightful lecture given by Josefin W. I've learnt - still am, - so much and for the 1st time was able to truly engage in the movements provided. Loved how she explained throughout the movements while moving but also why we moved the way we did in the sequence. Loved the queues, the pacing, the amount of really practical information. So much wisdom. Would love if it would have been live as I found Josefin to be incredibly knowledgeable! What an amazing lecture. As always I'm deeply grateful for all the lectures provided, thank you so much for bringing in all the amazing guests!!
Hello! I forgot to ask, is it possible to get the presentatin from Josefin's W. lecture pls?
Thank you!!
Juliana
Josefin's lecture was so insightful, and it warmed my heart to hear how successful this practice has been in Swedish prisons. I also really appreciate her emphasis on how disassociation and similar survival mechanisms are just that, a normal body response for survival. It only becomes an issue when it negatively affects our lives.
I’m catching up on lectures I missed and wow, love the discussion with Dr Bourgeois. Felt very special to hear her speak about her work in Houston where I’m from. I know Harris County Jail!
This lecture made me really appreciate how comprehensive PYP’s Foundational Training is. Highly, highly recommend taking that course if you can / would like a more in depth understanding of the prison industrial complex in the US.
These guest lectures are phenomenal, thank you Jen!!!
Hello! Just wanted to comment on Vanessa Ramos lecture, I really enjoyed the grounding practice, how Vanessa is really able to transmit her teachings in such a beautiful, inviting and felt way.
Also really appreciated the theme that she spoke about and how disabilities can really be applied to all, not only to people that are considerable " disabled " physically. That was really an eye opener and made me reflect upon how we live in such a dysfunctional, disabled society!
And I love how Vanessa is so welcoming and incredibly articulated, loved hearing her thoughts. Was a really inspiring lecture!
This guest lecture with is cool! The way she explained the circadian rhythm and how the seasons, our lives, all work together in this clock. I wish knew more about spices and connecting these elements together. I took the quiz and Pitta and I can see myself a lot in these descriptions. The massage provided for over all health and well being is very accessible in the shower. There are so many amazing topics shared so far in these lectures I feel like a toddler again, outside and trying to put everything in my mouth LOL.
I've spent the last 36 hours binging on the guest lecture recordings and I am 'high'! Ha ha. I love this part of the course and really grateful for the supplementary learning. It's enhancing 🤩
Sonia Brown-Diaz - Facility Relationships & Self Regulation in Service Work - interesting.
Dr. Jenn Bourgeois: Cultural Humility in Justice Work - love the data and research. Heading myself toward a PhD that integrates yoga, counselling, and philosophy as a healing perspective so great to see Jenn's credentials.
Working with Severe Mental Health Challenges in Correctional Settings with Josefin Wikström - loved this one, and the quote for dissociation: "escape, when there is no escape". I work with multiple personalities in counselling and often see the flip from one alter to another. Literally different people but love, compassion, and listening are healing. Some clients stay and do the work, and some can't. Either is okay.
Vanessa Ramos- Disability Justice & Accessible Yoga - interesting. I am reminded of the quote from 'Centurion', that some injuries (and disabilities) cannot be seen. From a yoga practice perspective, it's great that 'your' practice is a perfect one, no matter you ability or disability. Yoga is beautifully forgiving, inclusive, and forgiving.
Judge Victor Reyes- Authenticity in Service Work - "...speed bumps to growth and thriving", yes! I love that. True in any therapeutic setting. I also watched Judge Reyes' previous talk (I think on You Tube??) and it was excellent. I disagree though with '...we're not Buddhas". We might be, each other's teacher, right? Either perspective is good. As a retired Police Officer, great to feel aligned with a law enforcement professional and speaking purely for myself, finding redemption in helping others to redeem themselves. The helper is helped through helping.
Sachi Doctor - Healing with Ayurveda: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Restoring & Maintaining Balance - fascinating. Did Sachi start then resist Anjali and Namaste in her immediate introduction? I might be quite wrong! Quite heavy on theory and dogma, but I love that. It balances intuition and practice.
Off now to watch the recording of last Thursday's session - Module 10, Tapas (discipline) 😎 Looks fab!
