I taught my first student today y'all! It was scary and there were so many things that came up that I'd never thought about. How to demonstrate breath and talk at the same time lol. Transitions. Giving enough time for poses but not too much time. Talking about stuff while in poses. My subject was a 7-year-old with autism so there were many challenges, but we did it!  Student was happy and proud. His grandma was happy and proud. I'll be seeing him again next week. Tomorrow, I teach to my Momma.

Anyone else started teaching? What has come up for you?

Congratulations, Anne!!

That is a huge step, I am so glad to hear it turned out well for you and your participant 🙂 Also yes, totally agree that there are so many elements you have to consider, think about, and manage, etc while teaching. I try really hard to not tell people, or use language around: "you should be feeling this here", etc., but sometimes that all that comes out... it's like I am using so many parts of my brain while teaching that sometimes I have no clue where something I say comes from, or I feel like I don't have the capacity to think before I speak. I would really like to improve on that, and I hope that with teaching more it is something that becomes a skill. So much to balance lol

OMG yes I was doing that today too. Working on language is huge. My Mom gave me good feedback! She liked the class, felt good afterwards and wants me to come back!  Phew lol

Yay, Anne! That's so exciting to hear. Congrats. Just like yoga, I think teaching yoga is a practice. It sounds like you are already reflecting on things and thinking about how to incorporate these insights into your next session. Go you!
